The West no longer believes in any guarantees of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the conditional fixation, for example, of the neutral status of Ukraine can be thwarted at any moment, writes in his article for ZN. UA “War with Russia: five important. conclusions after Ramstein"

“There is a complete consensus in Russia, both elite and public, that Ukraine should not exist.. They believe that Ukraine belongs to them, it was stolen from them, and they are trying to make, as Putin said, “anti-Russia,” the diplomat recalls..

He emphasizes that for the Russian regime, the very existence of Ukraine is considered an existential threat, and the possible recognition of the opinion that Ukraine can have its own statehood, history, language, cultural code, and its own national dishes destroys the entire system of Russian quasi-values..

“Several months ago in Russia they came to try to fix these “bonds” by Putin’s decree.

The only compromise that the Russian regime agrees to is to “get” Ukraine into the zone of its exclusive influence, deprive it of the ability to make decisions about the future in principle and create a protectorate here.. The Kremlin does not allow any other compromises today,” Klimkin writes..

Moscow also equates the issue with the return of Ukraine to the zone of exclusive influence as a “question of its sovereignty”, not even national security.. At the same time, the West has already realized that Russia's public demands to Ukraine for non-concession to NATO are a smokescreen for Russia's real demands..
