The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has elected an international lawyer, former President of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture Mykola Gnatovsky as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the PACE.

It is noted that Gnatovsky won an absolute majority of votes and will now hold office for nine years..

According to the voting results, 167 delegates supported his candidacy.. The other two candidates, Tatyana Antsupova and Alexander Vodyannikov, received 20 and 0 votes respectively..

Recall that before the election of Mykola Gnatovsky, Anna Yudkovskaya held the position of ECHR judge from Ukraine since 2010..
