The republic's chancellor was amused by the sensational scandal in which Austria dragged Moscow. He met with a grin a journalistic question about the publicity of the case, which, by the way, many ask. “Sorry, but I can't help but smirk,” said Kurtz, surprised, RIA Novosti reports.. Austria could have been silent about the capture of the alleged Russian spy, political scientists say, if not for the condemnation of the West for excessive love for Russia. And by its talkativeness, the European state tried to prove the opposite.. “What would happen if we did it differently?” The head of government remarked rhetorically.. - There is information that in Austria there is an alleged spy who for several years received from Russia 300 thousand euros for espionage in the Austrian armed forces and the transfer of data to Russia. And we, as a government, say: “We will not say anything about this,” or: “It doesn’t interfere with us,” or: “We have no problems with this”? "Kurtz stressed that Austrian diplomacy does not allow for exceptions. From the "friendly special services" received the news of espionage, from the country's leadership followed the appropriate reaction. "According to the information that I received, in my opinion, it was absolutely correct to inform the public, absolutely correct to inform the Russian side that we do not accept this," the Chancellor concluded. On the eve of a retired colonel suspected of intelligence activity was allowed to be free. However, in order not to be detained, he is obliged to visit the police station every day.. At the same time, the court’s decision was appealed;

now the complaint will be considered in Linz High Land Court. The spy scandal unfolded on November 9, when Vienna announced the capture of a retired colonel of Russian origin, who had been transmitting information to Moscow for 20 years.. For his work, the special agent received € 300 thousand. The day after the statement of the Austrian Chancellor, he was detained. A few days later, as mentioned above, they let go. If suspicions are confirmed, the former officer is waiting for a real prison sentence of up to 10 years.
