In the Sverdlovsk Region, a working group will be established on the basis of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology, which will develop solutions for the processing of glass waste. , The corresponding assignment was given by the first vice-governor of the region Alexey Orlov on September 26 at a meeting on the issue of "Secondary use of glass bottles in the region", the information policy department of the governor.

"The issue is very urgent. On the territory of the Sverdlovsk region there is a serious accumulation of cullet due to the lack of demand for a glass bottle for its secondary use. The working group, which will be formed with the participation of representatives of all stakeholders, will work out proposals for the turnover of glass containers in the region, "said Alexey Orlov.

Glass has a long half-life, so it has negative consequences for the environment, said the head of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services Nikolai Smirnov. He added that the problem of glass recycling in the region is acute because of people's unwillingness to sort their garbage.

"In some courtyard territories separate glass containers have been delivered, but the percentage of their filling is very low, not all residents are ready to sort the garbage, people still throw glass into common containers," Nikolai Smirnov said..

According to the General Director of the group of companies "Ural Glass Company" Andrey Dolgikh, waste from glass account for 15-20% in the structure of all solid household waste, almost 100% of used glass containers fall on landfills and landfills.

"Monthly in the Sverdlovsk region sold from 30 to 50 million goods in a glass box. According to Stekloyuz of Russia, up to 10% of the output is returned to glass factories, but we should not forget that many goods are imported from abroad, "said Andrey Dolgikh.

Experts note that one of the reasons for the lack of demand for a bottle is that beer giants who work in the Russian market refused to accept their packaging, and preferred to use only a new one.

The working group will work out options for organizing the collection of used glass containers, including through trade networks, will offer incentive measures, both in the form of tax incentives for glass processors, and in the form of fines to improve environmental performance. It will also consider the possibility of creating in the Middle Urals an enterprise for the production of glass containers made of sand and cullet.
