This may indicate the involvement of senior government officials in the attack on the TV channel, Papiyev said.. The arson of the Inter TV channel on September 4 last year is the highest officials of the state. This can explain the lack of results of the investigation one year after the attack, MP from the Opposition bloc Mikhail Papiev said on Monday, September 4. "In the year that has passed since the attack on the TV channel, I repeatedly appealed to the General Prosecutor's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine. In December 2016, for my next appeal, the prosecutor's office of Kiev, which was conducting the investigation, introduced one more sign into this crime - namely, the terrorist act, after which it transferred the case to the Security Service, "said the MP. Since then, he said, there is no new information on the progress of the investigation. "The reason, perhaps, is that the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office against the organizers and executors coincided with the investigation made by the Inter TV channel. That is, probably, law enforcement agencies became aware of the customers of the crime, and therefore this arson was in the queue of unsolved crimes, "he said.. Papiev believes that law enforcement bodies can not do anything because "then it will be necessary to say that the customers and executors are top officials in the state". "That is, law enforcement agencies are hampering this investigation in order not to reach out to the public and not to say that people who occupy very high posts are criminals and organizers of criminal groups," the People's Deputy stressed.. In addition, today, on September 4, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine issued a statement on the lack of results of the investigation into the arson of Inter. Recall that on September 4 last year in Kiev, 15 unknown people in balaclava set fire to the studio of the Inter TV channel.

The next day, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatovic, condemned the arson attack. In February 2017 in the Council of Europe, an incident with Inter was put on the "red mark" and assigned the first number as the highest level of threat. The report also indicated that the Council of Europe had assembled a special dossier on the arson of the television news studio on September 4 by a group of unknown.
