EU expanded sanctions due to Siemens turbines

The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia because of the scandal surrounding the deliveries of the turbines of the German concern Siemens to the Crimea. Among the restrictions were, among others, Deputy Energy Minister of Russia Andrei Tcherezov and the head of the department of the Ministry of Energy Eugene Grabchak. "The EU added three citizens of Russia and three companies involved in the delivery of gas turbines to the Crimea, to the list of persons subject to restrictive measures in connection with actions that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine," reads the statement..

It is also noted that "the creation of an independent power supply of the Crimea and Sevastopol supports their separation from Ukraine".

The black list included Deputy Energy Minister Andrei Tcherezov, Director of the Department of Operational Control and Management in the Electric Power Industry Evgeny Grabchak and General Director of the subsidiary of the state corporation Rostek - Tekhnopromexport Sergey Topor-Gilka.

In addition, the list included OAO "Foreign Economic Association Tekhnopromexport" and LLC "Foreign Economic Association Tekhnopromexport", as well as JSC "Interautomatica".

"These sanctions include asset freezing and a travel ban, which will now apply to a total of 153 citizens and 40 organizations. These measures were introduced in March 2014. And were extended in March 2017. Until September 15, 2017, "the document says.

Recall, on July 21, Siemens said that it received reliable information on the modernization and shipment to Crimea of ??four turbines that were delivered in the summer of 2016.

For the project in Taman (Krasnodar region). The German concern believes that this was done in violation of contractual obligations. The company intends to get the equipment back to Taman.
