The bill on the introduction of language quotas on Ukrainian television violates human rights, divides society and harms TV.

This was stated in the "Inter Media Group".

"We are also categorically against this law, which practically prohibits the use on television of Ukraine of any languages ??other than Ukrainian. And the question is not in relation to languages ??- Ukrainian or Russian. Question in relation to human rights. This law violates the rights of millions of Ukrainian citizens, for whom the Russian language is native. And also he violates the rights of speakers of other regional languages, which, except Russian, in Ukraine 17. In addition, this law introduces a split in the society, and aggravates the already tense situation, "the message says..

It is also noted that the law on language quotas "does not contribute to the development of Ukrainian television," but will cause serious damage.

"It is impossible to create high-quality content in the Ukrainian language or in the same volume to make high-quality dubbing - that means, the quality of the television product in Ukrainian will deteriorate. The volume of the Ukrainian television market will not allow creating a high-quality, multi-genre Ukrainian-language product in the volumes required by this law, "added Inter Media Group,.

In addition, the press service said that "the Russian language - one of the world's languages", which "issued millions of copies of educational and fiction, made a lot of quality films".

"You can not deprive Ukrainian access to such important content," the statement stresses.

As reported by the "Observer", on May 23 the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading a bill on the introduction of language quotas on Ukrainian television. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko made it clear that he fully supports the innovation.
