The Verkhovna Rada supported the bill No. 2987, which provides for a ban on the production and propaganda of the St. George (Guards) ribbon in Ukraine.

The corresponding draft law as a whole was supported by 238 people's deputies.

"St. George's ribbon has become in Ukraine a symbol of Russian occupation and aggression. It looks like a strip with three black and two yellow (or orange) stripes, "says an explanatory note to the bill.

Propaganda of St. George's ribbon is public use, demonstration, wearing, as well as the distribution of St. George's ribbon or its image.

In terms of the level of public danger, these offenses should be attributed to an administratively punishable act.

It establishes the administrative responsibility for the public use, demonstration or wearing of the St. George ribbon or its image. This includes the display of the St. George's ribbon during mass events, the image on posters, stickers, postcards, wearing on clothes, things, fastening on cars, use in modern works of art, use of media.

These actions entail the imposition of a fine of fifty to one hundred and fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens with the confiscation of the St. George ribbon or objects containing its images.
