Ukraine can count on the fact that French President Emmanuel Macron will demonstrate the pro-Ukrainian position, including at the meetings of the Norman Quartet; One can also hope that from now on, in this format, Ukraine will not be subjected to political pressure to please the interests of the Kremlin.

This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the Russian political scientist, journalist, politician Andrei Piontkovsky.

Answering the question whether Ukraine has grounds to count on the pro-Ukrainian position of Macron, he confirmed: "Undoubtedly. Moreover, he will never forgive Putin for the "gift" that he presented to him on the last day of the election campaign. Regardless of this, Ukraine's support is his principled political position ".

"Can he exert any kind of pressure on Putin?" - asked "The Observer". "Pressure on Putin is not a matter of one Macron. Pressure on Putin can be provided only by joint actions of the European Union and the United States, "- said the politician.

At the same time, he noted that "the" Norman "process should be asked another question: will there be pressure on Ukraine now?" In this context, the political scientist recalled that recently "Norman" meetings were used by Putin to put pressure on Kiev, "But this game is over. This became clear even to Putin himself, which he frankly said at the last press conference with Merkel ".

"So the" Norman "process is dead, and God forbid, there will be no more pressure on Ukraine. And as for the pressure on Putin - it's not the case of the "Norman" process, but France is a very important member of the European Union and, of course, Macron's strong position will strengthen the position of Merkel.

We know the position of such, relatively speaking, pro-Putin countries like Italy, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus and so on. Makron, of course, will strengthen the anti-Putin line in the common position of the West, "predicted Piontkovsky.

As the "Observer" wrote, earlier the Russian opposition politician Konstantin Borovoi described how McCron could take revenge on Putin through Ukraine.
