The idea of ??joint management of the Crimea by Russia and Ukraine is not viable; It is voiced by Mikhail Khodorkovsky with the aim of influencing the "imperial" electorate of the Russian Federation.

This opinion was expressed to the "Observer" by the Russian lawyer Mark Feigin.

Commenting on the proposal, he acknowledged that in history there were examples of joint ownership of a territory by two states, but "it was all in the colonial period or it concerned micro-territories".

"Despite the globalization and virtual blurring of borders, the issue of sovereignty in the 21st century does not disappear anywhere. Strange as it may seem, but the twenty-first century began with sovereignty. All these Brexit testify that national states do not die, they are Europeanized, but they again return to their national, historical sources, which implies sovereignty, "the lawyer said..

In addition, for the adoption of such a decision "the will of these states is needed". "Such things do not happen as a result of war or annexation, but as a result of complex economic and political processes connected with the sovereignty of the population that lives there," explained Feigin.

According to him, "in order to discuss this history, it is necessary, as a minimum, to convene a large conference in which all the countries that are responsible for guaranteeing the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine according to the Budapest Memorandum should take part - first of all it is the USA, Great Britain, the same Russia and Ukraine itself, not to mention the fact that this is the Black Sea basin area, and that Turkey has Crimean Tatars from the Crimea ".

At the same time, the lawyer is convinced that only one country will act for such a decision: Russia. "No state will agree with this. Because in the 21st century, to legitimize annexation only in order to satisfy the aggressor's ambitions is an absolutely dead-end path, "he said.. "You can not make concessions to the aggressor, because tomorrow someone else will say: but let us also jointly control the territories in Asia, the Middle East, Europe. This will open such a Pandora's box! "- Faigin is convinced.

He also expressed his own version of why Khodorkovsky expressed such an idea. "It is not the first time that he makes such statements about the Crimea. Perhaps, he thereby tries to influence the declared by him as an interesting electorate. He says: we should not work with 14% who disagree with Putin's policies and everyone else, and with 86%. That is, it is an anti-Putin program, but at the same time a. It does not change the imperial positions of the electorate, but it changes their attitude specifically to Putin, "explained Feigin.

"To Khodorkovsky this way seems original, but in fact he is just a very short-sighted person - he never really took it seriously. This is absolutely non-viable construction, "- concluded the lawyer.

As the "Observer" wrote, in an interview with the publication "Interlocutor" Russian oppositionist Mikhail Khodorkovsky said that the Crimea occupied by Russia may eventually be under the joint management of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
