The debt of Ukrainians on loans is growing, over the past year it has reached UAH 159 billion. Moreover, the amount of debt increased by 39%. It is noted that the lion's share of these loans falls on unsecured loans, which include the use of credit limits. About this writes Minfin with reference to the data of the National Bank.

GDP and loans.

The publication draws attention to the fact that usually the revitalization of lending to the population is submitted as a sign of improving the economy.

However, for GDP growth, the fact of a decrease in cash turnover is important. That is, any bank cards affect GDP (both credit and debit). Moreover, the less cash in circulation - the faster GDP grows. To this conclusion, Moody's, which conducted a study of the use of payment cards in 70 states.

According to the specified study, an increase in the use of cards added $ 245 billion to a real GDP, due to an increase in consumption. This is due to the fact that using cards, people are usually ready to spend more and give money easier. In the states where the study was conducted, the growth of cards increased consumption by an average of 0.14% per year, which contributed to additional annual GDP growth by 0.08%.

" This growth contributed to the creation of about 2.1 million jobs a year, ”said Moody's analysts.

According to their estimates, each increase in the use of payment cards by 1% on average leads to an annual increase in consumption in the world by about $ 67 billion, or to an increase in GDP by 0.01%.

Reducing budget expenditures.

Reducing the use of cash helps not only to increase trade, but also to save public funds due to the reduction of expenses for the release, transportation, disposal and replacement of banknotes or coins.
