The gas transmission system operator of Ukraine (OGTSU) received applications from more than 10 companies considering the construction of 31 biomethane plants in Ukraine with a capacity of 225 million cubic meters. m per year, reported on the operator's Facebook page.

“Successful positioning of Ukrainian biomethane in the EU markets requires a detailed and balanced approach, the purpose of which is to develop mechanisms for cross-border trade in biomethane, in particular, to remove barriers for the sale of biomethane transported by the gas transmission system in the EU countries,” said Dmitriy Lippa, General Director of the OGTSU at the committee hearings of the Verkhovna Rada.

Lippa stressed the importance of harmonizing biomethane regulations with EU countries and removing internal restrictions on its export.

“This concerns both the coordination of customs formalities for processing the movement of biomethane across the border, and ensuring the issuance of guarantees and certificates of its origin, which will be recognized both in the domestic and foreign markets,” he explained..

In addition, according to him, for the development of the industry, additional financial instruments of cross-border lending should be created, which can be used, in particular, to fully or partially cover the costs of the manufacturer for connecting to networks..

Recall that in April, the Ukrainian biomethane plant for the first time submitted its product to gas distribution systems.
