The Federation Council on Wednesday, May 30, approved the law on counter-sentences. According to the document, a Russian company may fall under counter-attack with any share of foreign participation.

The President of Russia will be able to impose a ban or suspend international cooperation with unfriendly states, as well as with organizations that are "directly or indirectly" under their jurisdiction. A prohibition or restriction on the import and export of products or raw materials by such organizations may also be introduced, as well as their participation in state procurement and privatization. In addition, the law says that the president of the Russian Federation has the right to take "other measures" of influence.

The law does not apply to vital goods, analogues of which are not produced in Russia, as well as goods imported by citizens for personal use.

The State Duma approved the law on May 22. By the third reading, most of the proposals that caused public criticism or complaints from business and certain profile committees of the State Duma disappeared from him. In particular, passages were removed to ban the import of drugs, alcohol and tobacco, as well as the work of foreign specialists in Russia.
