Russian experts have developed alternative automotive fuel, which is a mixture of ethyl alcohol and cheap refined products. "This mixture has a low content of tar and sulfur, this ensures the cleanliness of the fuel system of the car. The fuel on tests showed compatibility with a conventional car engine without modifications ". - told Izvestia one of the authors of the development, head of the department of automobile and aviation gasoline All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Processing (VNII PN) Mikhail Ershov. He added that new fuel is already being actively used in a number of countries, including Brazil, Thailand and the United States. In Russia bioethanol is supposed to be obtained from processed feed wheat or wood waste.

At the same time, VNII PN experts believe that Russian drivers will not completely switch to alternative fuel, but it can become popular in some regions. "For example, in the North Caucasus there are many idle alcohol plants.

Probably, there is a good option, "- considers Ershov. Unfortunately, there is an obstacle in the way of biofuel distribution: it will be economically profitable only if in Russia they stop charging excise for the ethanol contained in it. "Now the state does not care: 40% of alcohol in gasoline or in water. Bioethanol and vodka are taxed equally. Therefore, economically biofuel is not very interesting to anyone, "- explained the president of the Russian biofuel association Alexei Ablaev.
