Oil reserves are found at a depth of almost two kilometers in the American part of the Gulf. According to the press service of Chevron, the deposit was found on the Ballymore structure about 4.8 kilometers from the platform Blind Faith. The length of the well is 8.9 kilometers.
At the same time, Chevron North America Exploration and Production President Jeff Schellenbarger noted that the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico is an important part of the company's long-term strategy. According to him, the opening significantly complements the portfolio, especially taking into account the combination of its size, quality and proximity to the infrastructure.
Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the Belarusian company Belorusneft reported on the opening of a new oil field - called Ugolskoye. Its reserves are estimated at about 1 million 695 thousand tons of oil.
