24-year-old Alex de Kegel, suffering from infantile cerebral palsy, received the title of Prince of the traditional carnival in the Belgian city of Aalst (Flanders). Like his predecessors, Alex will receive the keys to the city and will head two main parades in the crown and mantle on the first and second day of the carnival (February 11 and 12).

Alex was the best on the basis of the test of knowledge of the history of his city, tele-voting and jury assessments and overcame the main opponent during the music show, writes EuroPulse.

Carnival in Alsta - one of the youngest in Belgium: his official birthday is considered February 11, 1923, but in fact the festive processions in Alsta are held from the 17th century. Since 2010, the carnival of Alsta has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO.
