It is reported by El Pais.

According to him, the decision is due to the fact that current circumstances do not guarantee the normal operation of nuclear power plants. Nevertheless, the final decision was to be taken by the Ministry of Energy of Spain.

Also, the minister added that the two operators - Iberdrola and Endesa - could not agree.

Against the possible resumption of the activities of the station was the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, as well as the left party "Podmos", which called not to open the "Fukushima" in Burgos.

It should be noted that the Santa Maria de Garonha nuclear power plant was built in 1971 in the province of Burgos.

At present, Spain has five operating nuclear power plants: Almaraz and Trillo in Guadalajara (three power units), VanDellos II and ASCO in Tarragona (three power units) and Confrentes in Valencia (one power unit). Recall, as reported by URA-Inform nuclear power plants of Ukraine earlier Produced 222.82 million kWh of electricity. At the same time, the radiation, fire and ecological status on the industrial sites of the stations is within the limits of normal.
