First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakov Smoliy will start the duties of the head of the NBU from May 11, 2017. This is stated in a message published on the regulator page in Facebook.
According to the report, Gontareva completely leaves professional affairs in the National Bank and leaves on forced leave until the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides on her resignation.
At the same time, the National Bank confirmed that Smoliy will act as chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine until the appointment of a new chairman of the National Bank.
Recall, according to the current legislation, the decision on the resignation of the head of the National Bank is taken by the President of Ukraine, but the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The detailed procedure for appointing and dismissing the Chairman of the National Bank is regulated by Article 18 of the Law of Ukraine "On the National Bank of Ukraine".
As reported URA-Inform, People's Deputy Irina Lutsenko previously said that the acting chairman of the NBU will be Smoliy before the final approval of the candidate for this post.
