The fighting took place in two places simultaneously - on the north-western border with Libya and in the Nile Delta. During February 9-10, 16 terrorists were killed, another half hundred people were arrested, they are accused of links or assistance to Islamists. Half of them may face the death penalty for collaborating with militants. The Egyptian General Staff said that strengthening the borders of the country is henceforth a priority task for the country.

Such measures were taken by the leadership of Egypt after large-scale terrorist attacks in which more than 200 Egyptians lost their lives.

In addition to ground forces, the operation involves the air force and the navy of the country.

The current president of the country Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi is sure that the deserted Sinai is becoming a permanent source of training and recruiting militants.
