The US Treasury Department passed information to the US Congress that will help investigate the case of possible business ties between President Donald Trump and Russia, CNN reports citing informed sources, RIA Novosti reports..

It is noted that the documents went to the intelligence committees of both chambers of Congress from a special unit of the US Treasury Department - Financial Intelligence Service (FINSEN). The Office monitors the flow of financial flows and schemes of "money laundering", collecting information from banks around the world.

According to Adam Schiff, a member of the House of Representatives Committee for Democracy, the study of financial documents and transactions is "extremely important" for the investigation.

According to media reports, during last weeks parliamentarians from the Democratic Party have repeatedly appealed to FINSEN with a request to provide them with the financial statements necessary for the investigation.

Earlier in the Senate, the United States refused to appoint Trump Sigal Maldeker as head of FINSEN until the agency complies with their request.

As reported by the "Observer", Trump infuriated the Americans with a suspicious statement about Russia.
