German Chancellor Angela Merkel assured that she was ready to help the new French president to undertake real reforms and achieve serious economic progress, in which the country badly needs.

"France needs concrete victories. The future French government must demonstrate results in combating unemployment, in accelerating economic growth, and in integrating society, "Rzeczpospolita quotes Merkel as saying.

She added that the German government is "always ready" to help. Asked by journalists what exactly Berlin is ready to help Paris, Merkel said that she wants to wait for proposals from the French side, "to understand where there are common points of view".

The MEP and the representative of the Democratic Movement party, Silvi Gular, also told reporters that Makron will make his first visit to the role of French President in Germany.
