Moldova insists on the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria

Moldova has confirmed its position on the necessity of withdrawal of Russian troops and arms from the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian. This was announced during the Moldovan-Russian consultations held in Chisinau.

The head of the Moldovan delegation, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darius said that Chisinau insists on replacing the Russian peacekeepers in the security zone on the Dniester mission of civilian observers under the auspices of international organizations.

Also during the consultations discussed the resumption of negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict settlement in the format "5 + 2" (Moldova, Transnistria - parties to the conflict, Ukraine, the OSCE, Russia - the guarantors, the EU and US - observers). The head of the Russian delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigory Karasin, welcomed the reduced bilateral contacts between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

On the territory of the Transnistrian region of the quartered the 14th Russian Army, and in the village sausage Rybnitsa district are warehouses with ammunition, which since the Soviet era are more than 20 thousand tons of shells and bombs.
