The President of the United States wrote an inspiring New York Times op-ed explaining why it is so important for his country to support Ukraine.

With many of the theses of this article, of course, one can agree. And most importantly, it leaves no doubt that the United States administration will continue to support Ukraine, help our country in defeating the aggressor and restoring territorial integrity..

But in his approach to the conflict, the president of the United States remains a professional politician.. And, oddly enough, his approach as a professional politician in this case completely coincides with the approach of a person who has always been proud that he is not a professional politician - President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

Both leaders look forward to talks. President Biden believes that wars end at the negotiating table. President Zelensky believes that Moscow should be interested in negotiations to stop human casualties and economic losses. And both can be wrong.

President Putin is not a politician, but a personnel security officer. Such people only need negotiations when they are part of an operation to destabilize the enemy’s position.. If the Kremlin suddenly agrees to real negotiations, this will mean that Putin already has a plan to destabilize Ukraine without a war on his desk and he is ready to implement it.. But Putin will definitely not negotiate in a situation where he will look like a defeated man.. Ukraine's success for Putin is not a reason to achieve peace, but a reason to continue the war.

For Putin, there is no subjectivity of the Ukrainian state.

And for him there is no war, but there is just a special operation that can move from one phase to another. Until Putin decides he has succeeded or until his regime collapses, he will continue. It would be naive to count on the fact that such a person realistically assesses the situation and agrees to start a real negotiation process.. Yes, when you are a politician everything looks simple. And when you are a person who worries about the future of your country, everything looks simple too.. Everything looks not easy when you are Putin.
