British fighters stationed in Romania intercepted six Russian bombers over the Black Sea. It is reported by The Sun.
"Fighters of the Royal Air Force of Great Britain (RAF) intercepted six Russian bombers near the NATO airspace over the Black Sea," the message said..
The incident occurred on August 13.
According to the Air Force, the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jumped into the air from the Romanian base because of the six Russian Su-24 bombers seen over the Black Sea near the NATO border, they were heading for the Crimean Peninsula.
The British Air Force noted that the operation was part of the NATO mission to contain Russian aggression, support the Romanian allies and fulfill Britain's obligations within NATO.
The Minister of Defense of Romania, Mihai Fifor, earlier stated about the frequency of such "challenges" from the side of the Russian Federation.
