Muscovites went to a rally against the repression and arbitrariness of the authorities

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 10, at the intersection of Sakharov Academic Avenue and Kalanchevskaya Street, a rally "For Free Russia without Repression and Abuse". The event, which is timed to celebrate the Day of Russia, organized by the movement "For Human Rights" and a number of opposition parties. The action is coordinated with the Moscow authorities.

The declared number of participants of the meeting is 10 thousand people. Judging by the shots from the scene, people were not gathered so much - about a thousand people. Demonstrators hold placards with names of political prisoners, many T-shirts with a portrait of a prisoner on terrorism charges of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, postimees. ee.



As the human rights activist Lev Ponomarev, one of the organizers of the rally, told Human Rights Society, the purpose of the action is to draw public attention to the catastrophic situation in the country with violation of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens "from the right to breathe clean air and dispose of their property, to the right of people to freedom and life ".

At the rally, human rights activists, representatives of PARNAS, Yabloko, Civic Initiative, Democratic Choice, Open Russia and municipal deputies.

The organizers of the action and its participants will formulate the main requirements to the leadership of the country as a whole and the Moscow mayor's office in particular. First of all, we are talking about stopping the persecution of the opposition, human rights activists and protesters.
