Thus, the veto power can lead to the inability of the UN to protect people from war crimes and ethnic cleansing. In turn, this most likely undermines the credibility of the organization, reports RTBF.

According to Lemoyne, five permanent members of the Security Council use the right of veto in the UN: Russia, the United States, Britain, France and China.

By the way, the French government is not the first time proposing to change the rule of veto. For example, in 2013, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, this was speaking about the then acting President Francois Hollande.

Recall, as previously reported by URA-Inform, Russia does not comply with the decision of the International Court of Justice of the United Nations on the resumption of activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and access to education in Ukrainian in the occupied Crimea.
