From July 14, the fare in urban transport in Kiev will increase significantly, and will be from 6.3 hryvnia - if you use a ticket or a contactless card, and 8 hryvnia - for a one-time trip.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv city state administration with reference to the deputy head of KSCA Dmitry Davtyan on Tuesday, May 15.

"Since July 14, a new tariff for travel in the city's transport of the capital. Passengers who use travel cards for a month and contactless cards will be paid for one trip from 6.3 hryvnia when they replenish, "said the deputy chairman of KSCA on Tuesday..

According to him, the city administration establishes "the lowest possible fare for Kiev citizens who use transport constantly, and 8 hryvnias will be paid by passengers using the city public transport sometimes or guests of the capital".

Davtyan recalled that the last increase in tariffs to an economically sound level took place in February 2015. And in 2017, there were adjustments to its individual components.

"Since 2015, the country has increased electricity tariffs - 5.4 times, diesel fuel - 1.5 times, the cost of tires - 1.5 times, the consumer price index for the period (2015-2017) is 183 % ", - stressed Dmitry Davtyan.

According to him, now economically justified tariff for transportation of one passenger, taking into account all costs, is in the metro - 8,27 UAH, in ground transport - 8,77 UAH.

"That is, the current growth is a compromise, and it is less than necessary," said the deputy chairman of the KSCA. - This is a complex solution. And we had to accept it to avoid the threat of transport collapse in the capital ".

In turn, the head of the Kiev Metro Kiev Victor Braginsky said that for regular passengers of the subway, users of contactless cards the cost of travel will increase by 1.3-1.5 hryvnia.

"For regular passengers, the cost of a trip to the metro will go up by 1 hryvnia 30 kopecks in travel and 1 hryvnia 50 kopecks when replenishing the subway map for 50 trips, with respect to today's cost of 5 hryvnas. All benefits for socially vulnerable categories of the population, and such in the subway 23 - are preserved, "said Braginsky.

He added that the funds from the tariff change will be directed to two main directions: the payment of energy resources, which have risen in price, and the approach of wages to the average in the capital.

Earlier in April, information appeared that the authorities of Kiev plan to raise the fare to eight hryvnas.

Recall, since January in Kiev, 19 routes of private carriers have increased the price for travel by 1 hryvnia.
