US District Court ordered Apple to pay $ 506 million in favor of Wisconsin University for patent infringement. It is reported that in October 2015, the Cupertino company lost the trial and had to pay $ 234 million, and following the results of the new case, Apple will have to shell out another $ 272 million from above.

The court went around a patent that concerns the use of technology related to the operation of processors. It is reported that even after the loss of the first case, Apple continued to use the development of the university in violation of the patent, which expired only in December 2016.

At the same time, another trial continues between Wisconsin University and Apple, which also concerns processors - it's about A9 and A9X chips for the iPhone 6S (and also 6S Plus) and iPad Pro, respectively. Presumably, the company also used patent circumvention solutions.
