In India, tested an inexpensive drug that can protect against heart attack and stroke. The concept of a universal tablet for people older than 55 years was discussed five years ago, but there have not been any significant developments in this field.

Testing in Indian patients conducted by employees of McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, showed that the polypill reduces the risk of heart disease by 80%, is safe for the body and is well absorbed. The tablet consists of folic acid and five active pharmacological components that are widely available separately: aspirin, a statin that lowers cholesterol in the blood, and three blood pressure lowering medications.

The polyspecific product, released by Cadila Pharmaceuticals, was tested on 2,053 volunteers who do not have cardiovascular disease but who have risk factors such as high blood pressure or multi-year smoking. The experiment demonstrated that the tablet has the same effect as each of its components alone, reports BBC News. In subjects taking new pills, blood pressure and cholesterol level decreased, and without major side effects.

Researchers believe that the combined action of all components in a political tabulation can potentially halve the number of heart attacks in middle-aged people. On a global scale, this could save tens of millions of lives. However, the universal pill already has opponents. They believe that the problems of high blood pressure and cholesterol should be addressed through diet and exercise, but not by taking tablets.

It is worth recalling that the intake of oral contraceptives by women is directly related to the risk of developing heart diseases. Arterial echography showed that those women who took oral contraceptives are 20-30% more likely to develop arterial plaques in the two largest arteries: the carotid artery on the neck and the femoral artery on the legs. It is these plaques that often cause heart attacks and strokes, along with atherosclerosis.

It is also known that from heart diseases suffer more often introverted people who prefer to keep their experiences in themselves.

Introverts (phlegmatic and melancholic) are focused on their own experiences, are not very contact, they are silent, they hardly make new acquaintances, do not like to take risks, they experience a break in old ties, they have a high level of anxiety and rigidity. The study showed that introverts were 40% more likely to suffer from heart disease than the more open and emotional people. This is directly contrary to the existing in medicine view that heart disease is more common in people of the so-called "type A", extraverts choleric health. Sumy. Ua.
