In the US, just a few days ago, the use of a new drug against cancer.

As the Observer reports with reference to Express. co. uk, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) described its decision as a "historic".

The organization approved a drug called CAR-T - the first "living medicine" for cancer - which can successfully treat a certain type of blood cancer in 83% of people.

He works by reviewing the patient's own immune system, so he attacks acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Leukocytes are extracted from the blood, and then genetically reprogrammed to find and eliminate the cancer.

Then they are poured back into the patient, where they will then multiply.

Unlike modern methods of treatment, such as surgery or chemotherapy, the drug can be adapted to each person.

Treatment will cost 475 thousand. USD.

"We are entering a new era of medical innovation, having the opportunity to reprogram the patient's own cells to attack the deadly cancer," said Dr. Scott Gottlieb from the United States.

However, therapy involves several risks. In particular, it can lead to potentially life-threatening cytokine release syndrome, but it can be controlled with medication. Treatment can also help fight other types of blood cancer.
