Barcelona earned one more step before reaching the football pinnacle of Europe, not just on the field, but beyond its borders. The Catalan club has officially submitted an application to UEFA for the right to host the Champions League final in 2029.
The press service of the “blue garnets” reported this. The Club has provided all necessary documentation, including technical, contractual and institutional benefits, as well as guarantees of organizational capabilities to the Spotify Camp Nou stadium and Barcelona location.
The club said that the arena, after a large-scale reconstruction, will become one of the most important and innovative sports facilities in the world.
“While currently in the process of a profound transformation to enable it to become one of the most current, innovative and iconic sports venues in the world, Spotify Camp Nou is committed to all its efforts,. This stadium is historically recognized by UEFA as a stadium of the highest category and the largest in Europe by location,” says the club’s statement.
After completing the formal stage of submitting documents, UEFA will move on to evaluate all candidates. The remainder of the decision before the Champions League final for the 2028/29 season is scheduled to be celebrated in the remaining quarter of the streaming.
Let's remember that in the 2025/26 season, Barcelona became the champion of Spain, gaining 94 points. The Catalans also achieved a historic achievement by winning all 19 La Liga home matches.
