Courtois invested in Genk

Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois officially becomes a minority investor in Genk. The contribution was made through the NXTPLAY platform, co-founded by the Belgian footballer.

The decision to obtain a new investor was confirmed during the hour of the club’s gatherings. For Genk, the main external shareholder after a large-scale reorganization of the management structure and the creation of a related football company at the beginning of 2026.

NXTPLAY is based in Madrid and invests in sports, media and technology projects. The company already owns shares in the French Le Mans and the Spanish Estremadura, and Genk will become the main football asset.

The club has announced that its new investment program will help raise up to 60 million euros over the next few years.

In addition to financial support, NXTPLAY takes a place among the directors and takes part in the strategic development of the Belgian club.

At the same time, Genk announced the extension of the contract with sports director Dimitri de Conde until 2035, confirming the intention to have a long-term project.

Apparently, Courtois is a member of Genk and played for the club’s first team from 2008 to 2011, after which he embarked on a successful international career.
