Barcelona, ??Amiens (France) and Madrid were among the cities with the most sustainable energy consumption in the world. They entered the top 15 cities by the share of renewable energy sources, according to the rating of the "Carbon Disclosure Project".

More than 100 cities on Earth provide 70% of their needs through electricity from renewable, environmentally friendly sources. Most often these are hydroelectric power plants, and in addition - wind and solar generators. The least common are geothermal power plants (operating on hot underground sources) and biomass (they burn wood, plant waste and peat briquettes).

According to The Carbon Disclosure Project, 40 cities in the world fully provide themselves with energy from renewable sources. Among them is the American Burlington, which receives 100% of the energy from power plants operating in the wind, sun and biofuel; Icelandic Reykjavik, which provides itself with energy from hydroelectric power stations and geothermal sources, and Swiss Basel, where most of the electricity is also generated by the hydropower plant, and a part - by windmills.

Most of the "green" cities - in Brazil.
