Ukrainian director Marina Er Gorbach received the Legacy Award from the South East European Film Festival (SEEfest). The award was presented on April 29 during the opening ceremony of the festival in Los Angeles. The organizers noted her contribution to understanding the war in Ukraine on social networks.

For the first time, her works, in particular the film “Omar and Us”, created in collaboration with Mehmet Bahadir Er, were presented at the festival six years ago. The film received the Ecumenical Jury Award at the Warsaw International Film Festival, which celebrated its message of solidarity despite cultural and religious differences.

The director’s next work, “Klondike,” is dedicated to the events on the eve of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The film received awards at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as a number of awards at other international film forums..

According to Suspilne Kultura, the South East European Film Festival is an annual film festival that takes place in the first week of May and lasts this year from April 29 to May 6. Its program features feature films, documentaries and short films from the countries of South-Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.
