The song Hey There Delilah of the American indie rock band Plain White T's will turn into a series, reports The Hollywood Reporter. According to the publication, the composition, which tells about the relationship of a traveling musician and a student from New York, will be screened as a romantic drama.
The series will be produced by Lively McCabe Entertainment and Primary Wave, the script for the show will be created by writer Jeremy Desmond along with Plain White T's frontman Tom Higgenson.
"Ever since Hey There Delilah came out, more than 10 years have passed, but people still ask me about it. Many have really gotten used to this song, and I'm very proud of it, "said Higgenson. He added that he was pleased to be able to introduce a new generation to his song.
As Vulture notes, the story of Hey There Delilah is not as romantic as the plot of the song.
Higgenson met at a party with a Columbia University student and promised to dedicate a song to her - "despite the fact that she had a boyfriend," notes the publication. A few months later, Higgenson presented the girl with a ready-made composition about fictitious relations at a distance.
Hey There Delilah is the most famous song of Plain White T's, released in 2006. She was a few weeks on the first line of the Billboard Hot 100. After this song, Plain White T's was nominated for a Grammy.
