The issue of safety of places of mass recreation on the water bodies of Kharkiv region was considered at a meeting of the Regional Commission for Economic and Environmental Affairs.

During the meeting, the commission considered a number of issues related to the preparation for the summer season (namely, the preparation of children's health facilities, beaches and fire safety measures in the forests of the region).

In his report on the preparation of places for mass recreation of the population at the water bodies of the region, Pavel Ponomarenko, director of the Department of Civil Protection of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, noted that in 2017 in Kharkov region no one died on equipped beaches.

"In general, 50 citizens died in water bodies in 2017, of which four children. The main causes of deaths were the violation of the rules of behavior on the water and bathing in a state of intoxication. All cases of death of people on water objects occurred outside the equipped beaches, "- quoted Pavel Ponomarenko.

This year, according to his information, 60 places for mass recreation on water objects are being prepared for opening, 11 of them in children's health and recreation institutions, 19 on recreation facilities, 30 public beaches.

To check beaches on readiness for opening experts will be during May.

"Today in the region have been certified and are ready to carry out work to examine the bottom of the water area of ??the beaches Kharkiv regional municipal rescue and diving service and a group of pyrotechnic and special diving operations of the special-purpose rescue unit of the State Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkov region," said the director of the department.

The National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine and the Training Center of the Operational and Rescue Service of Civil Protection of the State Emergency Service are ready to conduct training of rescuers.
