On Wednesday, April 18, the first public cinema opens in Saudi Arabia. The first in 35 years, the institution will receive visitors in the capital of the country, Riyadh.

The American AMC (American Multi-Cinema) cinema will feature one of the Hollywood blockbusters. However, for ordinary residents the cinema will not be open at first. The first and a series of subsequent shows in April will be able to visit only the owners of special agreements, reports DW referring to the management of AMC.

What kind of film will be shown at the opening of the cinema, and also which of the guests are invited to watch, until it is reported. According to unofficial information in Riyadh will show the film "Black Panther" by Ryan Kugler.

Cinemas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia closed in the early 1980s.

The reason for this was the ultra-conservative interpretation of certain religious norms, which prohibits entertainment - concerts and film screenings.

The decision to open a cinema is one of the measures to liberalize the country.

Earlier in Saudi Arabia, women were allowed to attend football matches, drive trucks and motorcycles.

It is interesting that the main initiator of the changes is the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also holds the post of Minister of Defense of the country.
