The action takes place in 1937. in the room of one of the hotels besieged by the fascists of Madrid. Heroes hear rips, approaching projectiles, shooting and cries of dying. And there, behind the walls of the hotel, four fascist columns try to break into the city, where their "fifth column" is waiting for a sign about the attack - a hidden enemy, an internal assassin, traitors, howling against their own. After all, the same internal "fifth column", but only for the very Philip, appears his love for an American Dorothy, who loves his woman, who embodied the dream of a quiet house, children, peace. On the other hand, his attention is being sought by a comrade-in-arms of Anita, symbolizing duty, struggle and death for the sake of the continuation of the war.
