22-year-old Mikhail Savlyak has been actively creating content on various platforms in recent years - from Instagram and TikTok to YouTube.. After going through a deep personal crisis, he jumped from a 15th floor balcony last year. Fortunately, the guy miraculously managed to survive. After a long rehabilitation, he returned to blogging and is now trying to help people with psychological problems, sharing his own experience and tips to avoid this mistake.
In an interview with Focus, Mikhail said that he was born in Transcarpathia. For some time I studied in college to become a programmer, but after the second year I realized that this was not his field. From 2019 until now, he has been creating content, and at the same time he has worked as a promoter, handyman, loader and courier..
1 In one of the videos on YouTube you talked about that tragic page of your life, in particular about treatment in a psychiatric clinic. How it was?
— My condition and all my life have been studied in detail by scientists in the field of psychiatry. The chief specialist was a man of respectable age. I don’t know to what extent he developed, but I mostly talked with him. In addition, students or trainees came and they also asked questions. In general there were quite a lot of specialists. As far as I understand, it was important for them to investigate what was going on in my head.
What interested them in your story
— First of all, everything that happened “before”. In general, I talked about the first manifestations of anxiety at the age of 14 and about my state immediately before the jump. He said that we men also sometimes want to cry to someone or be weak. Complain how bad we feel so as not to keep it all to ourselves. That is, to have the right to be pathetic for a while without public condemnation. This does not make you a weak person, but on the contrary, you learn to overcome some weaknesses and unfortunate situations. However, due to stereotypes and social pressure, we do not allow ourselves to release emotions, because “you’re a man”.
Why did you decide to take such a step
“The same question was asked to me by the military man who was in the room with me.”. He had a complete misunderstanding... This is not a story of one day. It started out as anxiety and turned into panic attacks.. In the end, it was superimposed on derealization and depersonalization. Plus traumatic events associated with violence when you cannot resist. I remember how a group of hooligans greeted me. They said: “We can kill you - and we won’t get anything for it.”. At that moment you don’t understand whether he’s saying this seriously or scaring him.. There are some marginalized people who get a kick out of cruelty.. The psyche remembered that you froze and could not do anything.
How did you feel when you came to your senses
“I lost consciousness in the air, hitting my feet on the railing.”. I woke up on the roof of the car. I don’t know how painful the blow was, I didn’t feel anything then. I cried a lot. Was in despair. This is sadness, tragedy, tears. I thought: “God, what’s going to happen now?”. All the way I asked the doctors not to take me to the hospital, because I didn’t have money for treatment..
Do you have a video about failures in life, where you talk about how nothing works out?. But you are only 22 years old - you still have your whole life ahead of you. Perhaps this is due to the influence of content on social networks, where everyone broadcasts their success?
— Not everything happens as I planned.. If we take into account age, then yes, in 5 years someone can achieve much more, and I’m not even at the stage of recovery. Do it every day, but don't feel like you're moving up. It turns out that the idea of \u200b\u200bthe video was about wasted efforts and misunderstanding why everything is so. And the main question: what to do?
I agree that the big mistake was that I paid attention to other people's success. Apparently this influenced me to some extent.. For some reason I didn’t think about the future. The fact that a person has completely realized himself by the age of 25 does not mean at all that he will continue this trend and will not be left broke, perhaps picking up some kind of addiction along the way. Of course, such cases also exist, but we don’t think about them in moments of despair and don’t think critically, because we don’t see the whole picture.
If it’s not a secret, what did you want to achieve by the age of 22
- Let's do this. At the very least, make money doing what I like. But these are not the means when you are just surviving, making ends meet. The last six months consisted of me quitting my job and focusing exclusively on social networks, but it brought in pennies. I wanted to leave behind something valuable - something that would bring practical benefits to people. Even if it's a video that lifts your spirits. I also like acting, if it weren’t for the war, I think I would like to develop in this direction.
You made a separate video about treatment in a psychiatric ward. There are many stereotypes about this in society. Or are these not stereotypes
— There are no inadequate psychos who rush at everyone. These are people just like you and me. At some point in their lives they suffered traumatic shock. Not everyone, unfortunately, is able to endure this.. As for stereotypes, a trace still remains. When people find out that you were lying there, they are wary and afraid.
What conclusions did you draw after everything you experienced
— I talk about my findings on YouTube. First of all, you need to remember that everything can change while you are alive. Nothing is impossible! If you think that something happened and it will last your entire life, then this is taking on the role of a victim.. You have to allow yourself weakness, especially if you are a man. When emotions are released, they don't destroy you from the inside.. Well, and the last thing: when you do something, you must remember that you need it first of all.
If you feel anxious, are experiencing panic attacks, and also notice the first signs of depression, be sure to contact a specialist for help..
Remember that there are no hopeless situations!
Let us remind you that 38-year-old Vadim and his wife Tatyana Zaitsev, who are raising three children, decided in 2020 to move from a rented apartment in Chernivtsi to the small village of Beregomet, which is 60 km from the regional center. There, the couple looked for a 100-year-old manor with three rooms, which they decided to restore and slightly improve. What came of it, the couple told in an exclusive interview with Focus..
