The Government of the Netherlands approved the request of the Ministry of Security and Justice of the country to allocate funds to finance the trial of the case of the fall of Boeing 777 of the Malaysian Airlines in the Donbass in June 2014.

The Netherlands decided to take the cost of organizing a trial of those responsible for the crash of a passenger plane three years ago. According to the local newspaper Telegraaf, the budget-2018 has already reserved for this purpose 9 million euros. The commentary to the financial document explains that this money will go to pay for public prosecutors, as well as for the witness protection program. Moreover, in the period from 2019 to 2023. another million euros are required for this trial. The exact amount is not called, but the article itself is stipulated in advance. The Ministry of Justice separately specifies that otherwise it will be necessary to use the funds coming from external sources, and this may further challenge the independence of the court.

This summer, the investigation team, which includes representatives from Malaysia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Australia and Belgium, decided that the court for the crash of the aircraft over the Donbass should be held in The Hague under Dutch law. The Netherlands was preferred because this country has experience of conducting international processes, in addition, among the dead in that catastrophe most were Dutch citizens.

Passenger "Boeing-777", owned by the company "Malaysian Airlines" July 17, 2014.

carried out flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and was wrecked in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. Two years later, an international investigation team came to the conclusion that the liner was shot down from the Buk Russian-made air defense system, and the shot was fired from the territory controlled by the troops of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

In Russia, the findings of the commission are considered biased and require the disclosure of all evidence in this case.
