Most of all foreigners were interested in housing in Warsaw. Last year in the capital of Poland, they purchased 1,047 apartments, which is 5% less than a year earlier. The share of the Warsaw market in the purchase of apartments by foreign individuals was 23% compared to 26% in 2016.

Krakow was the second city after Warsaw, in which foreigners bought most of the apartments. There, foreign citizens purchased 713 apartments, which is 18% more than in 2016. In third place was again Wroclaw, where 462 apartments were sold to foreigners (2% more).

For the third year in a row, among foreigners, Ukrainians buy most of the housing in Poland. In 2017, citizens of Ukraine purchased premises with a total area of ??70 thousand. square meters, this is 16% more than in 2016. At the same time, the demand of foreigners was 265 thousand. square meters (6% more than a year earlier). This means that Ukrainians acquired 27% of all living space purchased by foreigners in Poland (individuals), which is 3% more than a year ago.

Calculating the average area of ??an apartment purchased by a foreigner (59 square meters), we can conclude that the Ukrainians bought in the past year in Poland 1,191 apartments against 1023 in 2016.

The importance of Ukrainians in the Polish housing market increased after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which as a result affected the increase in the number of Ukrainians in Poland. According to the National Bank of Poland, in 2017 there were an average of 900 thousand. citizens of Ukraine.



The following places among foreigners for purchased housing in Poland are occupied by: Germans, British, Byelorussians and Frenchmen. It should be noted that by 2014 this rating was led by the Germans, but a year later they were ahead of the Ukrainians.

Recall, according to official figures, in the first half of this year the number of foreigners with residence permits in Poland increased by 25 thousand. people. In mid-2018, this permission was 350 thousand. people, of them Ukrainians 163,000.
