The Palazzo Vecchio is thinking of raising the tourist tax, which has been in effect for several years and is paid “for the night” by tourists who stay in hotels of the city.

Florence Budget Advisor Federico Janassi spoke with city hotels and received approval of the idea.

“Thanks to fees, we are improving the service of citizens,” said Mayor Dario Nardella.

The amount will increase from 10 cents to one euro per tourist.

The municipal administration, at the moment, is inclined to the following figures: for 4-star hotels, the cost will increase by 10 cents (from 4.80 to 4.90 euros per night for each tourist), for 3-star hotels - by 50 cents (from 4.

Also for other types of tourist rentals (where Airbnb is the main one), an increase of one euro is expected from 3 to 4 euro.
