The increase in the retirement age in Russia is impossible simply because it does not make sense - the average length of life in the country hardly exceeds 70 years. This was stated by the business ombudsman Boris Titov. He noted that in Europe people live on average 82 years, while the life expectancy of Russians is 70.5 years. "I am sure that the short life expectancy of Russians excludes raising the retirement age to the proposed one," Titov quoted RIA Novosti as saying.. The ombudsman reminded that the meaning of the pension is to return the citizens' debt. And in this matter, one should not be guided by trends in the world, since Russian realities differ significantly from foreign ones. According to Titov, in Russia today there are 6 pensioners for 10 working people who did not have time to accumulate for old age.

This ratio led to the problem of the pension fund, whose budget simply bursts at the seams. According to Titov, there is still a way out of this situation. "It is necessary to withdraw all" Soviet "pensioners older than 1967 in the separate fund of the older generation - and to assign responsibility for it to the budget. And those who started working already at the turn of the 1980s-1990s, let them continue to accumulate - but only for themselves, and not for others, "he said.. With this approach, the ombudsman is sure, the problem will be solved.
