The European Commission came up with how to save European steel producers from import duties on steel and aluminum, which Washington introduced. She proposed to make the US pleasant in another sphere. Namely - to increase purchases of American liquefied gas. True, for this purpose it will be necessary to expand the corresponding infrastructure in the ports of the EU countries. But the US as a token of gratitude will cancel duties for Europeans, as they did earlier for the nearest neighbors - Canada and Mexico, hope in the EC. The conversation on this topic took place the day before during the informal dinner of the leaders of 28 EU member states in Bulgarian Sofia, RIA Novosti reports with reference to a diplomatic source. The White House announced the introduction of import duties on steel and aluminum in the amount of 25% and 10% respectively in March this year. They explained their actions with concern for national security. The measure caused an extremely negative reaction in the world.

Soon for some countries, including those entering the EU, a deferment of the collection of duties was announced until June 2018.

In Europe, they said they would take "decisive steps" to protect their producers. However, until now, negotiations between the EU and the US have not brought about a result. Apparently, now Europeans have decided to go more familiar way in communicating with the US, that is, to make concessions. Recall that US LNG Donald Trump strenuously offers Europeans from the very first days of his presidency.
