A series of commemorative coins with a face value of 5 hryvnia with the image of the Crimea will be put into circulation by the National Bank of Ukraine on Wednesday, April 25. The circulation will be 45 thousand pieces. Coins are included in the series "Areas of Ukraine". "The commemorative coin will be part of a series dedicated to the regions and territorial structure of our state," reads the website of the National Bank of the country. It is noted that Crimea has a great resort potential, which provides natural factors and unique landscapes. In addition, the peninsula is famous for its sights of archeology, culture, history, architecture and urban planning. The report stresses that in 2014 "the Autonomous Republic of Crimea was insidiously occupied by the Russian Federation".

"Violent annexation of the Crimea is not recognized by the Ukrainian state and the international community, which consider the peninsula as temporarily occupied territory," the message says.. Crimea joined the Russian Federation in 2014 following the results of the referendum, at which most residents supported this decision. The Ukrainian authorities consider this step to be "annexation". The United States and the European Union imposed sanctions that affected a number of Russians and Russian companies. President Vladimir Putin said that the question of the Crimea's membership is closed.
