It is noted that the highest indicator reached 16 German federal states - 16.2 billion euros. The incomes of social security offices exceeded expenditures by 10.5 billion euros, and at the municipal level this figure was 8.7 billion euros.

However, the budget surplus of the Federal Republic of Germany fell significantly compared to the previous three years, reaching 1.08 billion euros.

In Germany, the surplus of public budgets is growing for the fourth consecutive year. In 2015, it amounted to 19.4 billion euros, that is more than 10 billion more than a year earlier, and in 2016 - 23.7 billion euros.
