Russian Gazprom prevents virtual reverse of gas from Poland to Ukraine. This was announced by the deputy chairman of the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG Maciej Woняniak.

"The current cross-border capacity could at any time be used for additional services such as virtual reverse. However, this option is being constantly blocked by Gazprom: just as it is done with the Ukrainian-Slovak interconnect, due to the lack of access to the suppliers 'codes, "Wozniak said, adding that Poland is ready to support the Ukrainian authorities' desire to diversify energy supplies.

He also noted that during the period from August 2016 to the end of 2017 Poland reached an absolute record on gas supplies to Ukraine, exports reached a billion cubic meters of gas. In 2017 gas supplies to Ukraine doubled, to 700 million cubic meters.

The virtual reverse of gas assumes the exchange of information on supplies without physical fuel run through gas pipelines. Proceeding from Wozniak's words, Gazprom forces Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia to run gas through pipes, then to return it to gas storage in Ukraine.
