Agreed on June 6 by the EU's permanent representatives, the proposal will be extended for a year for the illegal annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol. This was stated by a high-ranking European official on condition of anonymity.

At the same time, he noted that nothing was done to change the situation, and therefore, it is expected that the sanctions will be extended in time. He also urged those present not to confuse the "Crimean" sanctions with economic ones, which the EU links with the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Those sanctions are in force until the end of July. This decision, which is now in the state of development and which is not included in the Council's agenda on Monday, he said, adding that the newsletter distributed to the EU Council in Luxembourg says that the ministers will extend without discussion until June 23, 2018 Restrictive measures taken in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia.

These measures apply to EU citizens and enterprises established in the EU.

Their action is limited to the territory of the Crimea and Sevastopol, - reads this document.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the leaders of the banking committee of the Senate of the United States of America from the Republican and Democratic parties proposed to strengthen sanctions against Russia. In their opinion, sanctions should be imposed in connection with its actions in Ukraine and Syria, as well as interference in the elections in the United States.
