The Ministry of Defense of Latvia has completed an important agreement to supply drones for Ukraine. As part of this, Latvia will transfer to Ukraine 1,400 unmanned aerial vehicles manufactured by Latvian companies. The Minister of Defense of Latvia, Andris Spruds, announced this.
According to the minister, this batch of drones is partly larger than a large-scale initiative, which includes a pledge of over 2,700 drones that will be transferred to Ukraine. This significance of the supply of drones is consistent with the strengthening of the defense of the Ukrainian armored forces. Spruds emphasized that the drones are part of the international coalition of drones, in which Latvia is actively taking part.
He also noted that since the start of the revolution, Latvia has already supplied Ukraine with 3,000 combat drones of various types and characteristics. This contribution is an important component in the ongoing aggression and support of Ukraine in its struggle.
The Minister of Defense of Latvia said that Latvia and it were determined to continue supporting Ukraine until further victory. Latvian companies will be deprived of cutting-edge unmanned technologies and will face the threat of diminished defense capabilities of Ukraine.
It is important to note that a few days ago the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced another important initiative of international support.
The Netherlands will purchase 51 mobile radars for Ukraine to detect drones. The transmission of these radars will take place in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Mobile radars are delivered by the Dutch company Robin Radar Systems. These building systems effectively control overflow and detect drones that crash at high speeds. The mobility of radars ensures continuous monitoring and the ability to neutralize enemy drones, which is critical for ensuring security in active combat operations..
