65% of French people have a negative attitude towards the activities of their President Emmanuel Macron, more than half believe that there have been fewer freedoms since he took office, BFMTV reports.
The attitude towards the president was primarily influenced by the infamous pension reform. While only 30% of respondents have a positive attitude towards Macron, others experience negative emotions: from “misunderstanding” and “anger” (16% each) to “disgust” (13%).
Most of those who have a positive attitude towards the president are people over 65: 34%. Most negative - 70% - in people from 50 to 64 years old, that is, those who should retire relatively soon.
At the same time, 55% of the French believe that the situation with freedoms in the country has worsened.. The president is now more often described as “more authoritarian” than in 2017, when he was first elected.
If the presidential elections were held next Sunday, Macron would not have been elected: the leader of the ultra-right movement, Marine Le Pen, would have bypassed him in the first round with 55% support.
